What a DSAR is

A data subject access request lets you ask your organisation for copies of personal data they hold about you, subject to exemptions. In disputes, DSARs can help you understand emails and files relevant to dismissal, discrimination, or performance allegations.

Timing

Responses usually must be provided within one calendar month in many cases (extensions can apply in complex requests). A DSAR can run parallel to settlement talks.

Limits

Not every document must be disclosed; exemptions exist. Third-party data may be redacted. Use DSARs as one tool alongside legal advice—not a substitute for it.
